Join the War on Drought…

“Dushkaal Hatawu : Manoos Jagawu” (Eradicate Drought : Save Humanity) is the battle cry of the war on drought. “Dushkaal Hatawu : Manoos Jagawu” (DHMJ in short) is a platform of various citizens, individual activists and organisations who have come together, since the past 4 years, with a common goal of eradicating “drought” from our lives. This platform came together with a common feeling that the “drought” in our lives should be eliminated… And for this elimination it would require a war… A war that has to be won…

This “drought” that is being tackled head on is a daily experience for the majority of populace. A scenario where there is a:

Pain, suffering causing discontent and haplessness due to-

• Lack of potable water to drink.

• Lack of nutritious food to eat.

• Lack of employment.

• Lack of fodder and water for animals.

Inequality and inequity is a way of life due to-

• Lack of accountability.

• Lack of education and facilities for the same.

• Lack of access and ability to utilise health care.

• Lack of awareness about one’s rights as a citizen.

• Lack of “connect” between urban and rural habitats.

Lack of information and adequate knowledge.

Lack of collective ownership and responsibility due to-

• Lack of unity.

• Lack of “true” leadership.

Tremendous hold of traditions and a cultural baggage.

All this has resulted in a Lack of will amongst the populace to fight and overcome these circumstances…This is the “drought” that would be eradicated by DHMJ.

IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THE ISSUE BETTER, GREENEARTH, WITH OTHER PARTNERS IN THE DHMJ PROCESS UNDERTOOK A PADAYATRA ACROSS MAHARASHTRA.
